Message to Students

Hello everyone.

I am teaching Japanese Traditional Arts, Japanese Society, Gender Studies in Japan.

Japanese Traditional Arts Courses: I teach these courses from an anthropological point of view in relation to gender, social class, cultural nationalism, globalization, ritual. Our class also study tea procedures and Ikebana jitsugi online. I am happy to share jitsugi lesson and explore some academic discussion together!

Japanese Society, Gender issues in Japan: I teach these courses from an anthropological point of view covering current issues. Let's examine the issues that you are facing in your daily lives together!

  • Guest Speaker for Akita East District Police,2023/12

    I have discussed how to promote inclusive society in Akita. This talk covered discrimination towards gender, LGBTQ, non-Japanaese and residents with mental or physical disability.

  • Guest Speaker for Akita Lifelong Research Gathering,2023/10

    As requested, I have shared how AIU students can collaborate with local revitalization project. Around 80 audience members attended, and they were significantly impressed with the possibility of AIU local contribution.

  • Committee member for young scholars future planning in Japan Association for International Student Education, Executive Committee member supporter for JAISE ,2023/04 -

    As a member of this committee, I have provided some guidance to PhD students' research content and supported the annual conference in September 2023. I have agreed to host the JAISE conference in AIU in August 2024

    As an adviser, I have provided suggestions to promote quality of life styles to the local community. I have also suggested several programs which collaborate with AIU students.

  • Guest Speaker for Akita Art University Aburaya Collection Workshop in January 2023,2023/01

    I will discuss how the simple farm tools or a rain coat convey meaningful stories from anthropological point of view. This talk also covers AIU can contribute to this collection archive.
